Welcome to the practice

Deciding to see a chiropractor for the first time can feel like a big step, especially if you are in pain or unsure what to expect. We want to put your mind at ease before you ever walk through the door. Munroe Chiropractic has cared for Western New York families since 1987, and over that time our team has helped more than 40,000 patients from Williamsville, Buffalo, Amherst, Clarence, and the surrounding communities. Our approach has always been the same: experience, quality, and compassion, delivered through hands-on, drug-free, non-invasive care.

In 2026 the practice began an exciting new chapter as part of the Complete Care Chiropractic family. The Munroe name, the location on Main Street, and the trusted team you count on all remain. What changes is simply that you now have an even deeper bench of doctors and services behind you. Whether your goal is relief from a nagging injury, recovery after a car accident, support during pregnancy, or steady wellness care for the whole family, you are in good hands here.

From your very first phone call, our front desk staff will help you feel welcome and answer any questions. We are open six days a week with early morning, evening, and Saturday appointments, so getting started is easy to fit around work, school, and family life.

What to expect on your first visit

Your first appointment is unhurried and focused on understanding you. Plan on being with us for roughly 45 to 60 minutes. The visit is a conversation as much as an exam, and nothing happens without your understanding and consent. Here is how it typically unfolds.

First, one of our doctors will sit down with you to review your health history and listen to your story. We want to hear where it hurts, when the problem started, what makes it better or worse, how it affects your daily life, and what you are hoping to get back to. If you were injured in an auto accident or on the job, this is when we go over how the injury happened and your symptom timeline, which is important for your care and for any no-fault or workers' compensation claim.

Next comes a hands-on physical examination. Depending on your concern, this may include checking your posture, spinal alignment, range of motion, muscle strength, reflexes, and specific orthopedic and neurological tests. These findings help us pinpoint what is actually driving your discomfort rather than just chasing the symptom.

In some cases we may recommend digital x-rays. Imaging is not needed for everyone. We use it when it will genuinely add to the picture, such as after a recent injury or trauma, or when we need to rule out or confirm something specific about your spine. If x-rays are appropriate, they can often be taken right here in our office.

Finally, the doctor will explain the findings in clear, everyday language and walk you through a care plan tailored to your body and your goals. That plan may include a schedule of chiropractic adjustments and, where indicated, our flagship Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression, cold laser therapy, or specific stretches, posture guidance, and lifestyle recommendations. You will understand the what and the why before any treatment begins, and you are always free to ask questions.

What to bring

A little preparation helps your first visit go smoothly and lets us spend more time on your care. Please plan to bring the following.

  • A photo ID such as a driver's license.
  • Your insurance or claim information. For no-fault auto accident care, bring your auto insurance details, your claim number if you have it, the police report or report number, and your adjuster's contact information. For a workers' compensation injury, bring your claim number and your employer and carrier details. If you have Medicare, bring your Medicare card.
  • Any prior imaging or records related to your condition, such as x-rays, MRI or CT reports, or notes from an emergency room, urgent care, or another provider.
  • A current list of medications and supplements, and the name of your primary care doctor if you have one.
  • A simple list of your symptoms and when each one started. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is also helpful so we can examine and move freely.

How to prepare before you arrive

The easiest way to save time on your first day is to complete your new-patient intake online in advance. You can fill out your paperwork from home at intake.mychirotouch.com. Doing this ahead of time means less writing in the waiting room and more time with your doctor. If you would rather complete your forms in the office, that is perfectly fine too. Just plan to arrive about fifteen minutes early.

Try to eat a light meal or snack beforehand and stay hydrated. There is no special preparation required beyond that. If you use assistive devices, braces, or orthotics, feel free to bring them so we can see how your body moves in real life. And if anything about the visit makes you nervous, tell us. Helping ease first-visit anxiety is part of our job, and we will go at a pace that feels right for you.

Insurance, no-fault, and payment

Munroe Chiropractic accepts Workers' Compensation, No-Fault (auto accident), and Medicare. We have special expertise in no-fault, workers' compensation, and personal injury care, and our staff will help you navigate the claim paperwork so you can focus on healing.

For everyday spinal and wellness care, our office is out-of-network for private health insurance. This is a deliberate choice that lets our doctors tailor your treatment to what your body needs rather than to what an insurer will restrict. We welcome cash and self-pay patients and accept all major credit cards, checks, and FSA and HSA cards. If you have private insurance with out-of-network benefits, we provide itemized receipts, sometimes called superbills, that you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement, and our team is glad to help. Fees change over time, so please contact the office for current fees. You can also learn more on our insurance and payment options page.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the first chiropractic visit take?

Plan on about 45 to 60 minutes for your first appointment. That time covers a thorough review of your health history, a hands-on exam, x-rays if they are needed, and a clear explanation of our findings and a care plan built around you. Completing your intake in advance at intake.mychirotouch.com helps the visit move more smoothly.

Will I get an adjustment on my first visit?

Often yes, but not always. The doctor first needs to understand your history and complete the exam to be sure treatment is appropriate and safe for you. In many cases care can begin the same day. If we feel more information is needed, such as x-rays or a review of prior imaging, we will explain that before proceeding. Nothing is done without your understanding and consent.

Do I need a referral to become a new patient?

For most spinal and wellness care you do not need a referral to schedule with us. For certain no-fault, workers' compensation, or Medicare situations, specific documentation or authorizations may apply, and our staff will guide you through exactly what is needed. When in doubt, call (716) 632-4476 and we will walk you through it.

What should I bring if my visit is for a car accident or work injury?

For a no-fault auto accident, bring your photo ID, auto insurance details, your claim number if you have it, the police report or report number, your adjuster's contact information, and any emergency room or imaging records. For a workers' compensation injury, bring your claim number along with your employer and insurance carrier details. Our team has deep experience with these claims and will help with the paperwork.

Do you take my insurance?

We accept Workers' Compensation, No-Fault, and Medicare. For routine care our office is out-of-network for private health insurance, which lets our doctors tailor treatment to you rather than to insurer restrictions. We welcome self-pay patients and accept major credit cards, checks, and FSA and HSA cards, and we provide itemized receipts you can submit for possible reimbursement. Please contact the office for current fees.

Is chiropractic care safe if I have never been adjusted before?

Chiropractic care is a widely used, drug-free, non-invasive approach to spine and musculoskeletal health. Our doctors complete a full history and exam first, use techniques matched to your needs, and adapt care for different ages and conditions, including pregnancy and children. If anything concerns you, tell us and we will explain your options and go at a comfortable pace.

Ready to feel and move better?

Whether you are in pain, recovering from an accident, or simply want to stay well, our Williamsville team is here to help six days a week. Same-week appointments are often available.
